ReconRobotics® is the world leader in tactical micro-robot and personal sensor systems. Worldwide, over 5,500 of the company’s robots have been deployed to the U.S. military and international friendly forces, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, bomb squads and fire/rescue teams. The company was formed in 2005 to commercialize robotics technology developed at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Distributed Robotics under funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Among the users of Recon Scout® robots are the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps, as well as many federal agencies, including the U.S. Marshals, Border Patrol, FBI, ICE and ATF.  ReconRobotics products are used on a daily basis by friendly military forces and local and national law enforcement agencies on every continent.

2018

Throwbot® 2 robot introduced.

2015

ReconRobotics establishes an integration agreement with Lenco Armored Vehicles.  ReconRobotics completes a capital restructuring.

2016

ReconRobotics integrates with Microsoft’s Patrol Car of the Future program.  Company ships 5,000th system. Recon Scout® CT robot introduced.

2017

ReconRobotics ships 5500th system.  Recon Scout® XL, Throwbot® XTa, and Recon Scout® CT robots selected for evaluation by the US Army Robot Enhancement Program.

2014

TACOM recognizes ReconRobotics as a key supplier.

2012

US Army Rapid Equipping Force orders 1100 Recon Scout® XT robots. Robotic Systems Joint Project Office orders 126 Recon Scout® XT robots for the US Marine Corps. Throwbot® XTa robot introduced.

2013

Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies.  Company ships 4,000th system.  Recon Scout® XL robot introduced.

2011

US Army orders 385 Recon Scout® XT robots.  US Army Rapid Equipping Force orders additional 315 Recon Scout® XT robots. Popular Science names the Recon Scout® XT one of the 100 Top Technology Innovations. Recon Scout® Throwbot® LE introduced.

2010
2009

ReconRobotics receives MN Architect of Defense Award.  Recon Scout® XT robot introduced.
