Alan Bignall, President and Chief Executive Officer of ReconRobotics, announced that Andrew Borene has been named Director of Government and Industry Affairs and Assistant General Counsel. In this newly created position, Borene will be responsible for building the company’s government relations activities and supporting federally funded research and development programs for micro-robot technologies. He will oversee company matters concerning the U.S. Congress, federal agencies, state/local government organizations and international industry organizations within the military and security sectors.

ReconRobotics, Inc. announced today that it has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Pacific (SSC Pacific) to jointly develop a Recon Scout® Throwbot® reconnaissance robot with magnetized wheels that will, among other things, enable the robot to climb up and over the hull of a ship. ReconRobotics believes that this concept could evolve into a new micro-robot platform that would have immediate applications in maritime piracy interdiction and in protecting the lives of shipboard military personnel. SSC Pacific and ReconRobotics recently unveiled the initial concept of this one-pound micro-robot and its novel marsupial-robot delivery system at the National Defense Industry Association (NDIA) Ground Robotics Capabilities Conference in Orlando, FL.

She will now oversee all U.S./Canadian sales efforts in federal and law enforcement markets, which together account for more than half of company revenues. Barmore joined ReconRobotics in 2007, and most recently served as the Senior Regional Sales Manager for the Western U.S. Prior to joining ReconRobotics, Barmore was a marketing communications associate for Captovation, Inc.

ReconRobotics, Inc. today announced the introduction of the Recon Scout® Rescue, a miniature reconnaissance device that will allow search-and-rescue personnel to conduct immediate visual reconnaissance of confined spaces and dangerous indoor and outdoor environments. In the fire/rescue sector the device is unique in that it is extremely small, throwable and mobile. Equipped with large motors, powerful drive trains and aggressive wheels, the one-pound Recon Scout Rescue can be directed by a firefighter to move through an environment and transmit real-time video back to the firefighter’s handheld operator control unit as well as to the incident command post. This video can be used to locate victims, explosive devices or other hazardous materials.
