Supporting the Washington State Tactical Association Training For Ten Years
EDINA, Minn. – June 22, 2017 – ReconRobotics, Inc., the world leader in tactical micro-robot systems, announced today that it attended the Washington State Tactical Officer’s Association Training (WSTOA) Conference for the 10th consecutive year and, in appreciation for the unwavering support, was awarded a recognition plaque by the WSTOA.
The Washington State Tactical Officers Association was founded in 1984 and has grown to represent over 700 members. The WSTOA acts as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. The association strives to advance individual and team knowledge by providing a network to share sound tactics, training and operational experiences. WSTOA works to foster the highest professional standards and levels of competence by providing high quality instruction to its members, promoting proper tactics, equipment and safety.
“The environments in which our police and military operate are highly dangerous and are often littered with debris and clothing that can entangle the treads on larger tracked robots,” said Mack Traynor, CEO of ReconRobotics. “Our two-wheeled Recon Scout® XL and Throwbot® XT robots are designed to ride over these types of obstacles, enabling operators to maintain a safe standoff distance as they conduct reconnaissance in these challenging environments.”
The Recon Scout® XL and the Throwbot® XT are equipped with an infrared optical system that enables the operator to see in complete darkness along with a sophisticated microphone that can listen in on quiet conversations. Once deployed, both robots can transmit audio and video to a handheld Operator Control Unit. Both robots may be specified in any of three predetermined transmitting frequencies, enabling operators to use up to three robots in the same environment at the same time.
The Recon Scout® XL features a patented two-wheel, single-axle design, plus aggressive wheels and a distinctive stabilizing tail that produce superior obstacle climbing ability and weighs 1.4lbs (.64kg), and can be thrown up to 30 feet (9.1m).
The Throwbot® XT weighs 1.2 pounds (540g) and can be thrown up to 120 feet (36m). When used in tandem with a Recon Scout® SearchStick™ it can also function as a pole camera to facilitate the inspection of attics, rooftops and crawl spaces.
The U.S. military and allied friendly forces and police and counterterrorism teams, worldwide, have deployed nearly 5,500 of the company’s micro-robot systems.
